Pass the chips y’all! I’ve taken my staple Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken recipe and turned it into a second recipe…dip! Several years ago, I created my version of buffalo chicken, cooked low and slow in the crockpot. After making it a few weeks ago, I had some leftovers, so, I decided to turn it into a dip.

Why Everybody Loves This Dip

  • It’s perfect for feeding a crowd because you can easily double or triple the recipe. This makes it great for tailgating, game day,, and potlucks.
  • Ready in 25 minutes, you can’t beat how easy and quick this recipe is. This makes it ideal for lazy weekends, and last-minute parties!

Buffalo Dip Ingredients

  • Shredded Buffalo Chicken – You can make a fresh batch of shredded chicken for this dip or use leftovers. I recommend using my slow cooker buffalo chicken recipe!
  • Cream Cheese – The cream cheese helps to mellow out the spicy buffalo sauce and create that dip texture.
  • Sour Cream – Another dairy item that helps make this dip delicious but not too spicy. You can use plain Greek yogurt if you don’t have sour cream.
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese – I like sprinkling the cheese on top for a cheesy dip experience! If you have time, I recommend shredding your own cheese.
  • Buffalo Wing Sauce – Any vinegar-based red hot sauce will work. I usually use Frank’s buffalo sauce to keep it classic.

Variations And Additions

  • If you love ranch, try using ranch instead of sour cream in this dip.
  • If you love blue cheese dressing (and who doesn’t love blue cheese and buffalo?), you can use half blue cheese and half cheddar cheese!
  • Add some vegetables like diced green onions or minced garlic (these count as vegetables, right?).

How To Make This Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

How To Make Buffalo Chicken Dip In The Crock Pot

  1. Stir all ingredients, except 1 cup of cheddar cheese, and place in the slow cooker.
  2. Top with the shredded cheese and place the lid on the crock pot. Set the heat to low. Serve once the cheese has melted.

Donya’s Success Tips

  • Softened cream cheese is a lot easier to work with. I recommend letting it sit out on the counter for 15 minutes or so if you have time.
  • Shortcut: If you’re short on time, use rotisserie chicken and add hot sauce for more flavor.
  • If you like it spicy, you can always add a little more hot sauce, black pepper, or cayenne to the dip.

You can also serve it with other veggies like carrot sticks, cucumbers, or bell peppers. I also love it with potato chips, crackers, and pita chips.
