Sliced Potatoes In Air Fryer

I have always had a thing for sliced potatoes. Many years ago, when Dominic and I first set up home together, I used to replace aubergine in a moussaka with sliced potatoes.

This is because aubergines were too expensive, and I could get some cheap potatoes and use them instead. Plus, Dominic, like most blokes would choose potatoes over aubergine, so he was happy!

I also loved to decorate the top of a casserole with some yummy, sliced potatoes and it made the casserole even more special. If you follow a gluten free diet you can use it as a replacement of pasta in lasagne recipes.

Whenever you have a recipe for a casserole, imagine follow this recipe today for air fryer sliced potatoes and taking your casserole to the next level.

So when I read online that you can not make a slow cooker Lancashire hotpot, I was like….have they not heard of an air fryer for making those sliced potatoes all crispy?

I cooked the slow cooker Lancashire hotpot and loaded my favourite potato slices into the air fryer and then placed them on top.

Edit: Before I get a zillion emails and comments asking what a Lancashire hotpot is, you can read about it here, but basically it is a lamb stew from northern England topped with sliced potatoes.

Then I was in the middle of prepping the slow cooker, when I got an email from a subscriber for a recipe for air fried sliced potatoes and thought there would be nothing better, than to take the behind the scenes picture as I made Lancashire hotpot and share it with you.

And that is what this air fryer recipe is all about. Showing you how to make the best ever air fryer potato slices that you can eat however you like, especially over casseroles, stews etc.

Can You Air Fry Sliced Potatoes?

Yes you can! The air fryer is fantastic for sliced potatoes and one of the first air fryer recipes I did, and one I cook regularly.

You can make really thin sliced potatoes for making potato crisps with or you can keep it at a medium thickness to serve over casseroles like we do.

Crispy Potato Slices In Air Fryer

If you would like your potato slices extra crispy, then I recommend adding in more extra virgin olive oil in a spray, close to the end of cooking. This will give it an extra crisp and make them super crispy.

I tend to keep an extra virgin olive oil spray in my pantry and then use it for recipes like these air fryer sliced potatoes.

Notes

Crispy. If you would like more crisp on your sliced potatoes, then I recommend you add a little spray of extra virgin olive oil 3 minutes before the end of the cook time.

Quantities. Avoid filling the air fryer past the ¾ mark. As the potatoes will stick together and you wont have a wonderful crisp on the potatoes.
